Belief, superstition, cultural curiosity or just plain “hedging your bets”. Many newspapers include horoscopes which we look to for guidance. In Chinese culture there is Sheng Xiao, also known as Chinese Zodiac, which attributes 12 animals in a yearly cycle progressing on Chinese New Year (commonly in February). This cultural belief pays close attention to “unlucky” times. These are different for each animal. This year the dragon, ox, dog and goat need extra luck and, great news, it is possible to “smooth your way” in true Asian fashion through ceremony and offering at a Chinese Temple.
