Hiking to the Turquoise Lake – Kol Tor | Bishkek | Kyrgyzstan

Kol-Tor lake is recognized by its magical turquoise color and considered as one of the most beautiful mountain lakes of Northern Tian-Shan. The trip includes 2,5 hours ride from Bishkek, till the hike starting point, from where the main journey begins. The lake is located at an altitude of 2750m above sea level. It is a popular and moderately complicated route of a total 6 km, which should take three to four hours of the often-steep hiking tour. Along the way to the Kol-Tor, it can be seen the impressive views of beautiful nature through the slopes of gorges overgrown with spruce forests and thickets of wild rose, barberry and mountain ash.There are spruce forests on the western shore of Lake Kol-Tor; the eastern shore is occupied by tall grasses. You are welcome to visit Kol-Tor Lake anytime, as it is beautiful differently from season to season.
